A quintessentially English dream village with cream-coloured stone cottages lining a gently winding road from the 14th century Market Cross to the By Brook. The charming houses are roofed with split stone tiles and are listed as ancient monuments. The village was renowned from the Middle Ages as a centre of the wool industry and the houses were for the weavers. The beautiful city of Bath is nearby and also mysterious, Neolithic Stonehenge. Castle Combe has some lovely Tea Rooms and a Pub with a beer garden and log fires in the winter. This is most likely the prettiest village in England.
